As Chairman of ThyssenKrupp UK plc, a holding company with 50 subsidiaries, 8,000 employees and a £1.6 billion turnover, he resigned in 2006 to incubate Helius Energy plc, creating biomass power stations with recorded profits in excess of £30 million in just 3 years.
Now concentrating on delivering ideas successfully and working with others to make the difference in many fields. From launching Prontaprint in the 1970’s to the innovative technological development of some groovy Holographic projection and True2Life 3D music experiences, Alex has seen many aspects of business life.
He recounts: When I was a young 18 y.o. at university I wrote a lot of verse and wasted thousands of words trying to be clever – now I’m older I’ve learnt that quantity only fills voids – quality fills pockets. Being still in love with music and exercising the brain has lead to being nominated for two Entrepreneurial Digital Awards – impressive for a man of comfortable years and a Boro supporter to boot.
